Tucson Arizona native Carlos Arzate has established himself in the talent rich musical pool of Tucson as a well respected dynamic songwriter and performer with material inspired by the southwest border. Referring to his style as “Sonoran Soul” listeners can expect to hear folk inspired songs performed in the vein of musical inspirations Otis Redding and Sam Cooke with the grit of Bruce Springsteen.
With three celebrated releases under his belt, “Fly Away” (EP 2013 Funzalo Records) “Got Me Wrong” (LP 2015 Sonoran Soul) and “Camaleón” (LP 2018 Sonoran Soul) Arzate is continuing the promise of folk music with his diverse musical tastes, using his music as a vehicle for social awareness and change. Recently a video collaboration with the Arizona Justice Project for a song he wrote called “The Ballad Of Louis Taylor” garnered mentions from the Auckland Film festival and was an “Official Selection” at the Accolades International Film Festival. Arzate has shared the stage with John Doe of X, Diego’s Umbrella, and most recently Grammy award winner, Gaby Moreno and has collaborated with Tucson notables, Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez (XIXA) Ryan Alfred (Sweet Ghosts, Calexico) Ryan Green & Cameron Hood, (Ryanhood) & Tucson legend Salvador Duran along with many others.
