Coffee, Agave and Climate Change

Love coffee? Mezcal? So do we! But what do we know about saving these important plants from current environmental threats?

Join guests from The University of Arizona Borderlands Restoration Network and Exo in a laid-back presentation about Climate change in Guatemala, Mexico and Southern Arizona, Observations on recent climate shifts, natural variability, and predictions for the future of coffee and mezcal will be shared. 

Our guests include U of A paleoclimatologist Dr. Kevin Anchukaitis, Borderlands Restoration Network member, Francesca Claverie and owner of Exo and bacanora enthusiast, Doug Smith. 

We will also screen Emmy award-winning filmmaker Mari Cleven’s documentary short, “An Uncertain Future: Guatemalan Coffee Farmers and a Changing Climate.”

The presentation portion of this event is FREE. A mezcal tasting will follow focused on bacanora and Northern region agave spirits. The tasting is optional and is 15 dollars.
